My current boat has a fair amount of rust on the engines, generator and other parts in the bilge. I know it is unavoidable but it really bugs me. I take delivery of my new boat (Formula 350CBR with trip outboards) 10/30 and want to do all I can to prevent rust. I have T-9 which i plan to use regularly. Has anyone tried these:

They are supposed to create a rust proof vapor barrier for up to 2 years. My guess is the bilge is too big of an area but I was thinking of placing several around the generator, batteries, in my tool bag, etc. Anyone try them?
Also any other advice. The boat is on a lift - salt water boating

Thanks
Keith

So how do they work without a coating layer on the potential rust surface? They look like some kind of desiccant. Curious to know if they work. I spray down the motor and corrosion areas with WD 40 and wipe it down. Works great and it’s inexpensive.

The reviews were very good

I coated a brand new outboard in 2005 with Corrosion Block and ran it in salt for over 10 years and not one indication of salt corrosion or rust. It is also safe for all the electrical portions of your engine. I started spraying from the top of the engine and went to the bottom and let it run out of the cowling. Wd 40 is a good product but has to done every year I did this once with this product.

I've heard of these for gun safes, tool boxes, etc. Not sure about large compartments like an engine room, but would be curious of how others feel about them.

Curious about the cost as well.

The cost for Corrosion Block isn't too bad. It's basically an aerosol wax coating. I had a can start leaking in my cockpit compartment under the sink out of the top of the can where the nozzle is. All I can say is it took me hours to clean it up, and it only ran down the side of cockpit floor, into the scupper for the port floor hatch, out the scupper, and down the side of the hull.
So, if you buy it, don't store it on the boat. bring it onboard and empty the can on your equipment. I'm assuming it just got too hot in there at some point. Sea Ray used it at the factory to coat just about everything in the engine room and the helm station during manufacturing. I shoot any part I replace on the engines.
