Running 8.2L on the hose

Hello all new to the searay boats and the 8.2L, I was curious, so do I use muffs or the hose water flush port when running the engine out of the water? I see everything about flushing it via the hose port but nothing about running the boat for test purposes.

2011 270 SLX 8.2L contained system.

Just being cautious as I can find anything on the subject

Muffs and don't forget to plug the low water pick up at the bottom of the outdrive. You will suck in unwanted air. Quicksilver makes a strap that wraps around and buckles into place. Don't ask me how I know about the low water pick up.
