runaway prius - a hoax?

There is a lot of misinformation which has been posted in this thread and very little actual factual information.

Find some actual figures and present, not innuendo

Else this thread can also be designated as a "most useless thread."

Ahhhh it's the Tiki Bar... you want facts and utility?

Yeah, I don't like what they did in the interior in the new version either, I plan on mod'g the pieces I don't like (the gray dash replaced with CF and the orange gauges with the optitron.)

The exterior is fine in my opinion.

back to the prius out of control - hmmm, interesting way to get rid of that pesky payment... :smt021:grin: Just saying.

The TT is still available. Lightly used and in show room condition with all of the maintenance records.

It's a good thing Audi never experienced unintended acceleration issues! oh wait....

(sorry - as a former Audi owner I coudn't resist)

Not to get into the American vs German vs Japanese vs Korean vs Alien made assembled in Canada with Mexican parts debate, but.....here i go...

I LOVE my 2008 Cadillac STS V8 AWD... Awesome use of great, functional technology, great ride and performance, I personally like the way it looks. Paid what I think is a fair price for it, and I'm at 50k miles and never been to the dealer for an issue. Before that, I had a CTS that I put 80k on, similar experience.

Fire away, I can take it I live in Michigan. :)

VW is one of the few manufacturers that do a $0 down, sign and drive lease. I turned in my end-of-lease Mercedes last year and walked away from their $4,000 cap cost reduction plus fees lease and saved myself that plus $200/month on a VW Passat lease. The difference between the MSRPs was $5,000. So, is the Passat at $30,000 overpriced? I really don't think so. I love the Passat regardless of the $11,500 I'm saving over 3 years. <snip> You'd be crazy to buy a Camry over this car.

Well . . I was specifically talking about the CC, not the Passat. Nonetheless. . the Passat at $30K is a 200hp 4banger. So. . yeah. . I don't think that is a good value. The Camery only gets to $30K if you throw in the V6 and everyother goodie. . . .I am still miffed they pulled the V6 and TDI from the Passat -> so I really didn't look at that vehicle.

I can't speak to the leases - Leases are a different animal that doesn't fit my car usage patterns. . . . I would certainly HOPE you save a fortune going from a Mercedes to a VW. There is alot more that goes into a good lease deal beyond the simple vehicle MSRP and rebate.

The STS is a nice car. It made my short list -the only American car on my short list- Buying these cars used definately seemed the way to go. I was seeing 2 year old cars in the mid-upper 20's.

My American cars have been robust. I have a '97 caddy with 150K on it. . . the Northstar leaked more oil than it should (like an old bettle!) but was nontheless a sweet ride until the ABS/Stability control module died. (repair estimate: $3K! I don't think so, Tim.). My Ford is older, and it still costs nothing to maintain.

I have absolutely nothing against American cars from a quality point of view.

I encourage you to check out the Genesis, in V8 and with the Tech Package. Will be an eye opening experience.

I rember that issue. It was only with the automatic transmission cars, but caused all sales to crater. Still, Audi came back stronger than ever. Hopefully, Toyota will do the same. They make great products and employ lots of Americans. We have nothing to gain by seeing them struggle. While they are sorting things out, Michigan companies may have an opportunity to sell a few more cars than would otherwise be the case. Ford seems to be making some pretty good cars lately. Michigan needs to start growing again.

In Audi's case, it was limited to select vehicles, and as you said, only automatics. It wasn't a very common car here, and after some unfair bad press they determined it to be entirely driver error. (stomping on the wrong pedal)

Toyota on the other hand, has a much bigger monster in their closet. They don't seem to know which cars are affected, and by what. I'm afraid this will get worse before it gets better. On the bright side, I bought my stick-shift Audi used at a great price, and I don't currently own a Toyota...

LOL - my other vehicle is an A6 ...I find it fun to drive!

I haven't owned an american car since ... '97.

I'd better hide my $24K in cash a little better so no one steals it out of my house!

Too lazy to drive the 4 hrs or so to your house.......mmmm.....you by chance carry that much cash when you guys come to Norris?

Yep, another scam! I KNEW IT!!!

I'm now wondering if the prius had a big Obama sticker on the bumper, like most of them around here.......hmmm. Well, I suppose that's neither here nor there. (morality issues aside)

If anyone out there wants a real vehicle, I have my '09 Suburban listed on Autotrader.

In listening to Rush today, he also is of the theory that this is balloon boy part II, I tend to agree.
What do you want for it?
