have 04 260. there is a rubber cover that goes over the key hole of the starter. where you put the key in. has anyone had to replace this as mine is falling apart?

To replace the cover, I had to purchase the ignition switch according to my dealer. They didn't have it available separately. i just took the rubber piece off the new part and put it on the old switch. it was pretty inexpensive, and now I have a spare ignition in case the old one goes bad.

Yep, mine fell apart as well. Haven't bothered looking for a replacement as I'm pretty ginger with soap and water around the cockpit gauges, anyway.

I found a replacement rubber cover for a push button at WM. Just had to cut a slit in it for the key. Worked fine and was way cheaper than buying the whole switch.

Went to my Marine Max dealer and they had an ignition switch returned, so he gave me the rubber cover for it for free. I like that!
