Just a little Nostalgia for fun. I love our 97 250DA and it is a wonderful boat. My cousin just emailed a picture of me and my cousins sitting in a three plank row boat on the Jersey shore in 1949. (Age 4). What great times we had as kids in those home made specials that always had water in them. Anyone else? Al W.

Way before my time. How did you build your own engine?

Thanks Frank! I was beginning to think I was alone! Maybe I am!? Oars my friend, just like the Vikings! Al W.

Holy cow! I'd imagine water skiing was tough

I grew up with a rowboat. In fact I just restored it about 4 years ago and now my nieces and nephews use it. I attribute that rowboat and lessons learned at age 5 to giving me a huge jump start on handling big boats. When I was 15 or 16 and we got a 47' motoryacht. My dad had a sailing background and certain situations were a bit challenging for him in this new boat. One day we found ourselves in a very tight marina on the chester river in chestertown, with a decent current, and lots of things to hit on the way out. For some reason we had to leave right then, like maybe a boat inside of us had to leave or something, I forget. I also forget exactly how it all went down, but I was the one that backed the boat out of that marina with absolutely no experience other than that rowboat. All I know is baby Ben is going to grow up with the same rowboat I had, so check back in 15 years to see if my theory holds water

Ours started out as an airboat and ended up as an inboard. That flat wide airboat hull really dug itself a hole out back while underway. With little freeboard hull speed was limited by the speed at which water would start climbing into the back of the hull. The pull start Briggs lawn tractor motor chugged all day though.
