Yesterday I bought a used Magma Grill from Marine Consignment in Wickford for 50 bucks. Everything is there and it works fine. There is one problem: How to mount it. It has the rail mount attachment but the only rails in the cockpit are on the wetbar which means the grill would be in the boat, which I don't like (messy and probably not very safe). There are rails on the stern that can be used to mount the grill over the swin platform. I know, I probably just answered my question myself, but I am just curious as to what other 260ers do.

We use it on the stern rail over the real locker.

I have a pedestal mount (magma part A10) that is mounted under the swim ladder hatch. Hidden away when not in use, and very stable with the BBQ on it. I got the idea from Todd (Nehalennia). I think he has posted pictures of his set up on here somewhere.

I put mine (when I had the 81 260 ) on the post for the top!! Worked fine. I did however take it down when underway.

I copied Flduramax (Donnie) and I like it, I think he has pics posted, it's a pedestal mount near the swim platform ladder cover. Easy to clean if theres a spill too.

I use a rod holder attached to the stern anchor locker. I put a towel down in case anything drips but worst case after cooking I just wash it off. I use the non skid Woody's Wax which helps keep avoid any stains on the swim platform. I don't do it often but I have run with it up too.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll try the post for the camper top, hanging the grill over the side.

The swim platform lid does work well. That is the way I mounted mine a few years ago. It's easy to be out of the way, cleaner and there is a mount for the Kettle style.

If you use the under the ladder mount , you lose the use of the ladder while cooking, unless you want kids grabbing the hot grill to help themselves up? Just mount it on the rear locker rail I added wing nuts for quik release. Works awesome

I don't think there is one single best solution which is why Magma offers so many options. I've had mine under the swimmer ladder hatch like Todd's for years and I love it. We rarely have people in the water while food is on the grill so it has never been an issue for us.

Exactly the same for us. Also, I stow it when done on a bracket/shelf I built in the engine bay. If I had it on the transom locker door, I have a feeling it would be left there all the time as the brackets seem to be more for permanent installation. As mentioned, whatever works best for each person, but I really like this method.

Just for the record: To my knowledge Todd was the originator of this mount and was so great to document it so well for all of us. We too do not swim and grill.

I leave them bouncing off the side of the boat with their feet tied to straps....much more stylish than fenders and they love it.

*BRILLIANT*. I can't believe I didn't think of this! All these years of arguing over "who's turn is it to ride in the engine compartment?" , could have been avoided

Luckily for me, my 2 year-old only lost one finger, while touching the "shinny spinny thing" !
( that blue doe sticks to belts like crazy!) It sure did teach the other two that "No doe below" wasn't me trying to be mean!
