So i took my 95 sea ray 175 series out today after work. This was the first time i have had it on the water since i replace the trim senders and solenoids.
She started right up and idle very good.

The problem is that when i shift it in gear it jerks really bad and is like off and running, not to mention it sounds like its ripping the gears out. Anyone know what is causing this? Are the cables not set right or is this something that in the stern drive?

Could the shifter cable need adjusted? I have replaced the shifter itself? Maybe the cable needs adjusted? Any ideas?

Sounds like the idle is a bit high.. what's the rpm at idle?

out of the water its right in the middle from 0 to 1,000 RPM's so its around 600 - 650.

I was told this might be normal on the mercruiser's but i think its a little rougher/louder then normal.

Any ideas on this?
Could i have put the stern drive back on wrong? That "L" shaped piece that sits in the stern drive? Could that be in wrong? i made sure it was lined up when i put the drive back on but maybe somethign happend to it?
I havent tried to adjust the cable yet but i will try that, just looking for any other suggestions.
