i have a 77 srv 200 cuddy that has a section of rotted transum starboard side middle to top not gone completely but soft. would like to use this season and repair over winter looking for ideas for best way to repair.i pretty much got this boat for nothing.one man said it would be fine as all stress is pretty much taken up by engine mounted to the floor ? he also explained that removing the rotted section and glassing in a new piece of plank would solve my problem ? looking for opinions. the rest of her is in very good condition, just need a good cleaning and seats.thanks

my ex girlfriend has the same problem, a mechanic said to let it dry out very well, then re glass it, if it has rotten wood inside the glass, I don''t see how reglassing over it will help. but i am still investigating. when I find out, I will get back to you

I also put a thread called "weak transom"

the rest of her will be wet as well, not where it might be soft like some of it, but it will be wet, meaning you cant glass to wet wood.

total replacement is what you need

a mechanic said, take it out of the water, let it dry for a month, so it's really dry, then reglass it. the damage came from a leaking bolt hole, or something. the mech found where it came from. that part of the damage has been repaired, but the damage was done
