Has anybody used Roll off as a general purpose cleaner on the hull and non-skid? Any detrimental effects on the gel coat? I have one friend who swears by it and another who says it will eventually damage the gel coat:huh:

I've used it once or twice when nothing else would work on stubborn scuffs - and have buddies that swear by it too - never heard of any damage or long term effects - It takes EVERYTHING (wax polish etc) off

I've used Roll Off for years, I wash the boat every week with it. I do dilute it in a 5 gallon bucket, I don't have a problem with it taking the wax off. Maybe if used full stregth, but I have not used it that way. Bob

It's not supposed to do anything full strength. It needs to be mixed with water to be activated. I use it all the time. It leaves behind a better protectant than the wax, at least as far as dirt adhereing to it.

They do sell it pre-mixed, ready to use, in a spray bottle - that is the stuff I was refering to......

I have used it for 5 plus years. The only damage was this month when some spilled on the painted dash and I did not catch it until the next day, it was not diluted and took the paint right off.
