For memorial Day weekend I’m going to Rock Hall, can anyone recommend a marina?

SummerWind,

We keep our boat, Knot Behavin' (2007 280DA ) at Skipjack Cove on the Sassafras River. We took (4) boats down to Osprey Point Marina last year for an overnight stay. The marina is a nice as they come and was reasonable. Full floating teak docks with all hook-ups ready and waiting, a very nice swimming pool, facilities and a shuttle that takes you to locations such as Waterman's. Gratitude Marina is also a nice spot and right next door to Osprey Point. Check them.

I can vouch for the Sailing Emporium in Rock Hall. Always very clean - heck, even the men's bathroom has fresh cut flowers in it every morning!

Ship's store, swimming pool. A friend of mine keeps his 390 there, I've stayed there a number of times.

Seconded for Sailing Emporium. We stayed there last year on our way up to the CSR Baltimore get-together. Very clean place, a bit out of the way but free loaner bikes and the trolley stops there. Downside is no place to eat anywhere close - wasn't a problem for us as we cooked out.

Eat somewhere close?

Waterman's is right across the harbor. Can't go wrong there.

I keep my boat at the Sailing Emporium and can also recommend it highly. Yes it is a hike to "town" but as stated the bikes and trolley offset that. Also true that Waterman's is close as the crow flies, probably a bout a pitching wedge away. But if you need to go by land (i.e. no dinghy) then it's about two miles. Also, for food I recommend the Harbor Shack. Waterman's is fine, but a tad more touristy. The Shack gives you a sense for the "real" Rock Hall (for better or for worse). Food is good, and it's cheaper.

check out www.rockhallmd.com for a list of other marinas in town.

If you have trouble getting a reservation at Osprey or Sailing Emporium etc., try Lankford Bay. It is a quiet, family run marina with a full store, pool, fuel, full service, free pump-out. No restaurant. Long way to Rock Hall but the Trolley stops there. From there, its a short run to Conquest Beach which is a great sandy beach for kids of all ages.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I think it best to stay closer to the eateries since my GF likes to wear fashionable footwear and I’m trying to convert her to boat friendly footwear even after her fashion sense landed her in the cold October water.

Try Rock Hall Landing. Right on the harbor.

I just locked-in @ Osprey Point Marina, thanks. :smt038

We stayed at Osprey last year and loved it…. would like to go back some time this year. Like Knotbehavin mention earlier they have nice big floating docks with room for deck chairs that makes a great place to enjoy a few drinks and watch the sun set.

Hey Bill, thanks for the pics but I thought POM had floating slips?
Based on the pics its more like floating dock.
Are all boats bow to stern?
Thanks
Ray

There are a lot of good suggestions for marina's but I'm curious if there is room for anchorage and a water taxi. We don't have a dinghy yet and I would like to know if there are alternatives to docking at a marina.

Other than on July 3rd (Fireworks Day/Night) people don't typically anchor in RH harbor per se, although there is room for a boat or two right in front of the blue condos around between Waterman's Crabhouse and the back side of the Sailing Emporium. Other "open" water in the harbor is likely the channel or a shoal. Hence the common stories of people running aground in the harbor.

That said, Swan Creek around the "other side" of Rock Hall is a large, pleasant and well protected anchorage. There is no water taxi in Rock Hall. I have run the numbers, it would not be profitable. But that's another story.

Thanks for the info about the taxi and the harbor. This will be my first trip there. I will look into the marina's, and also a dinghy for the future.
