I have a few questions about the rl70c
apon startup it says Raytheon. I'm pretty sure there's 2 software versions so I have the Raytheon version
im pretty sure it's the hbs2 version also (my manual says so on the front page)

My questions are 1. I need a chip for my area. I ordered one online but it didn't seem to read it. The one I ordered was orange and dated sept 2014. Class mw. Do I need to do something other then just insert it to load the data or is it the wrong chip all together.
2. Does this unit have radar chart overlay? The manual says yes but i followed directions on how to turn it on abd can't figure it out.
3 can I connect my raystar 125 via seatalk by connecting the seatalk plug from the rs125 into the seatalk on my tri data s60 then connect the s60 via seatalk cable to the rl70c?

I had the Raymarine Pathfinder Plus on my 04 300DA. It did overlay. On my current 400DB I have the older Raytheon Pathfinder (not plus). It updates slower and does not support overlay. You can tell what you have by the text on the startup screen. At one time you could send them back to Raymarine and they would swap in faster processors and update software to get to the Plus. But I called them recently to look into it and they have no more hardware for the old stuff. They take C-Map chart cards.

So the raymarine version does the overlay and the Raytheon version does not? The chip I ordered says c map on it but it doesn't show the charts on the plotter. It's suppose to b east coast and Bahamas. What's the difference between the black card and the Orange card?

In my case the answer to your first question is yes. Might want to get confirmation from others or from an internet search.

All the cards I have ever had for both units were the black ones. Can't comment on the orange ones. And they covered much smaller areas than the entire east coast.

I thought that when raytheon owned Raymarine (Raytheon displayed on start up) it was hbs. After Raymarine was no longer part of Raytheon, their circuitry became hbs2
Maybe you have incorrect manuals ??
Maybe others know or call Raymarine ?
Can't help with the chips, but I just bought NT+ c-card for my RL80 for north channel / Georgian Bay and it works fine. I talked to Jeppesen to make sure of what I was ordering because these units are outdated and software is coming to an end for them. They certainly could answer any questions you have on cartography. Good luck
