can i use the rl70and the tri data conected to the ray star 125 without the rm300 conected? in other words can the raystar be connected direcly to the rl70. also does it make sense to buy a new inexpensive garmin gps chart plotter ?

RS125 will give you GPS signal. You can hook it up to any compatible unit to display the data.

ST60 has two versions (they have different serial numbers). One can work as a master and/or repeater (I don't remember 100% but I think the one which S/N ends with ###13). The other as a repeater only (I think this S/N ends with ###4). So, if your ST60 is ###13, then you can connect RS125 to it and let it distribute the data to other units, your RL or anything compatible via SeaTalk.
