The bigger the boat the slower it goes and burns more fuel. Our first boat was 28' at the water line with lower and upper helm it went 24 knots and burnt 15 GPH. Present boat at 6 knots burns 6 GPH at 22 knots it burns 55GPH. A short bridge boat gives you a lot of room to socialize without crowding the main cabin. An aft cabin boat gives you more sleeping room but limited water level play area. The bigger the boat the bigger the water and holding tank. If you are going marina to marina you do not need large tanks. On our 28 footer we has 50 gallons of water. The two of us could survive 4 days but no showers. A boat is not like an RV. On the hook the only space you have is the boat.
