Trying to determine the best size to purchase for my platform, it's hydraulic so no worries there and will be using chocks that slide into platform. I need some guidance from those who currently carry one on similar size platform as to what size is best 10'.6" or 11'6". Does the extra foot make it more difficult to maneuver on and off the boat and does the additional weight make much of a difference when running? Lastly what HP engine do you use/recommend?

Thank you,
JB

What is the beam on your 48DA? We have a 450 DA and our beam is 13'3". At the swim platform (also submersible) we're just about a foot less. We were stuck deciding between a 10' dinghy and a 12' and ultimately went with the 12'. There is a bit of overhang of the dinghy outboard but we solved that by purchasing large round inflatable fenders by Aere for going through the locks. The small amount of hassle of dealing with the extra size on the dinghy is worth the extra 1' beam on the dinghy and 2' in length.

We have a 30 HP so the dinghy really flies and gets up on plane easily. We went with the Apex A-12 Eurosport. http://www.nwinflatables.com/A-12 TENDERLITE.htm

I have the same boat and would not go bigger than the 10'6". We had a 48 with a 11foot at the Marina and with the Motor Tilted it went past the beam. Recommend the AB 10VSX - http://abinflatables.com/boats/mares-10-vsx/
