We sold our 48 Sedan Bridge recently and purchased a Grady 300 Marlin with 250 Yamahas and a Panda diesel genset.

The essence of downsizing:

- from 3 staterooms to no staterooms (but v-berth & mid-berth)

- from 25 tons to 6 tons

- from 50 gal per hour at 20 knots to 17 gal per hour at 20 knots.

- from 24 knots WOT to 40 knots WOT

The Sea Ray was 52 feet overall plus 6 feet of dinghy on a rear davit, hence the 60 foot boathouse. Lovely shed but I really can't justify the moorage expense ($13K) for a 30 Grady. You could probably squeeze two Marlin 300 boats into this shed, which is for sale.

That's a gorgeous building! I hope you enjoy your new boat. One question though, why did you downsize?

In our advancing years, we have not used the big boat enough to justify the cost. So a smaller boat made sense. This Grady can be trailered (just barely, as the rig is 2 feet overwidth and weighs 14,000 lbs), so we can store it on our property. It also allows us tow it to places we wouldn't otherwise be visiting by water.

I understand. Enjoy it, it's a good boat from what I hear!
