Hey Everybody, My name is Sam. And I'm new to your club. I have a restoration project. As far as I know it's an 1978 bow rider 17 feet and a seville model. Engine is a 4 cyl. Here's the hull info;
E 7323
SERV 5875 D 787
17 BR 4634
The hull is in good shape, but that is about all that is in good shape, the boat was exposed to the weather for years. And yes the drain plug was not removed. So it's a mess inside. But the hull is water tight because it was holding about two feet of water inside. I drained the water, and got the trailer road able and currently it's inside of a dry garage.
As you know I'm trying to find manuals. The drive appears to be a merc. What I'm not sure of is engine I.D. I've cleaned the muck and rust off the engine trying to find an I.D. Number. Do you have an Idea of where to look? The drive is not in much better shape where can I find an I.D. Number on the drive? I have already contacted my local sea ray dealer who wasn't much help. And so far I haven't heard from sea ray corp. Does any body know of any 3rd parties or after market dealers that may have manuals.
Yeah I've got a lot of work ahead of me on this one. And I can certainly use your help, So thanks ahead of time. Sam

Hey Sam, Yes it sounds like you have a project ahead of you. I have been restoring a 1975 240 for a couple years, we use it but it is never done being worked on. Now I have a 1979 300 express also, have been working on for months, took it to the water the 4th. It floats and runs but still has a way's to go. You better be doing it for enjoyment because otherwise its just work. We love the time spent on the water though and everyone that comes with us is thrilled with the ride. Manuals can normally be found on ebay cheaply, that's where I got mine. Good luck with your project. Scott

Welcome, Im new here too and in a similar predicament. I have a 1977 260DA but it is operable. Ive had for two years and still doing the restore.

As for the engine I would suggest a Mercruiser Seloc manual to help ID it. Cheap and covers many years of engine/drive combinations. Also there is some information on the Sea Ray website under old models, can at least get a brochure.

Sea Ray customer service was useless on mine.

This is a labor of love and don't get frustrated. Costs can be high so unless you have a bottomless checkbook watch for sales and go at a pace you can afford.

:smt001welcome sam ! i'm also a newbie here--i'v had many of boats,but the searay's are awesome--they started off on the right foot , and just stuck with it :thumbsup:
