Resonator placement

I picked up a pair of resonators and will be installing them shortly along with the exhaust manifold/riser/elbow. My main concern is eliminating water intrusion which causes hydro-locking the engine, all too common with my setup. My question is has anyone else here done this? If so can you tell me the dimension from the elbow that you placed the resonator? There is a extensive water intrusion setup that Merc. recommends to determine the ideal placement but it requires drilling inspection holes in your manifold while testing then replace the manifolds. Too expensive for me. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Place them 10 inches down from rise end and clamp out side.
