My boat has a joint where the pilot house attaches to the rear of the deck. It tends to be an issue if the caulk/sealant fails, which mine did last season even though I had it recaulked the year before. As a result I have some water damage to the cherry dashboard panels that I have to replace, too.

One of my winter projects is to really clean out the joint and properly reseal it. I’m making a series of videos showing the process. While it does show a non-Sea Ray I thought it might help some folks here too.

If you like this kind of stuff you can subscribe to my channel - I don’t have nearly enough subscribers to get anything from it so I just make these videos to help other boaters.

Interesting, very surprised that you are having that kind of issue with a new boat. Shame that you need to go through that at this point. But it looks like you have things well under control. Great job Brad!

This particular joint seems to be a common issue. I don’t know if it’s material selection, application skill, or something else. I suspect that the resealing done in 2021 just put a layer over what was there. In any event, the caulk was cracking, pulling away, and puckering in various places.
