In full disclosure, the dog came from the local Reservation.

It’s my understanding dogs escaping this place has happened before. The best approach next time for these owners is notify the police. Then they’ll get a fine.

My cabin borders the reservation. We feed corn to the deer. They say a dog will only eat corn if it’s starving. Well the rez dogs are there quite often eating up the corn.

I didn’t know that about the corn. That sux.

My wife earlier last year wanted to call the Humane Society or ASPCA on them, but I told her not too. I didn’t want to start a war with neighbors (1/4 mile down the road neighbors) I didn’t know. After all, we’re the new people in the area. Just bummed it’s them.

On a positive note, it has us thinking of getting a dog. We have the property and household to handle a large dog if we wanted, but I’d prefer a mid-size. It would be our 1st….well my 1st - she grew up with Huskies.

Probably more neglect than abuse. I know exactly what you mean. I have to drive through the rez to get to my cabin. The natives are complete pigs. Oh! but they’re stewards of the land LOL.

I know quite a few Indians. They believe in some important concepts that I think you and I both do....one being, mind your own business. One thing you'll find out is that if you fuck with someone you will be fucking with their whole family. You don't want to do that.

If you want the dog go see them. Let them know your wife feels a special bond with that dog because of the rescue. If they ever would want to find a new home for Maverick you'd sure like to have him.
