I need to replace the throttle cable on the starboard engine of my 2001 310 DA (350 V-drive).
I'm trying to determine the best way to disconnect the cable from the throttle handle assembly. There is a small U-bolt about 6" below the dashboard that holds the cable in place at the lower section of the throttle handle assembly. But the nuts on the U-bolt holding this cable are on the outboard side of the assembly.
My only access to the underside of the dashboard is through the small hatch under the steering wheel. Given that the U-bolt's nuts are on the outboard side of the assembly, they are just about impossible to access through that hatch. You can feel them with your finger, but can't really work a wrench in there.
From everything I can tell, my only option to access those nuts would be to raise the whole assembly out of the dash. That would involve removing the nuts from four bolts that drop through the dash. Removing the nuts that secure the assembly to the dash won't be real easy either, but it looks doable with two people (I'll need someone above the dash securing the bolts while I loosen the nuts).
Can anyone tell me if this is the right approach or if I'm missing something?
If possible, I'd like to find a manual on this throttle handle assembly. I couldn't find a name on it anywhere, but there is a logo at the base of each handle (see photos). Does anyone know who the manufacturer is?
