Every time the head is flushed an unpleasant smell is coming out the vent. I am assuming the charcoal or whatever is in the filter is used up and needs to be replaced so I went to West Marine and they wanted $100.00 for one filter. I’m hoping there is a better place to go and seeing if anybody has any suggestions.

Yep that is about right price wise however if you don't let the tank get to full and flood it, the filter should last for years. Some here have been able to cut open and rebuild the filter but that is something I would personally rather not do. Especially if yours failed due to the tank overfilling, it would be a very "messy" project.

They can be found online for around $70 or so.

Thanks for the help much I appreciate the information. I think I will try the filter MOD and see what happens and pray the filter is not "wet".
