This past weekend my horn was not working on my 18.5 Sport. I checked the fuse, no problem, then I went to the front of the bow and I pulled the two screws and remove the horn piece. When I shaked the horn piece it has water. As soon as I shaked the water off, the horn start functioning a bit. I contacted Sea Ray and they told me to go back to the dealer and they will replace the horn. My question is the horn waterproof? Water can come in when riding the boat inside that horn. The dealer said that they are rain waterproof but that is it. Does not make sense that inside the horn piece it had water. Either way I was given a new horn piece to replace. We will see if I will have more issues in the future with having water inside the horn..

I had the same problem. I first dried the horn and drilled a small hole at the bottom, then put a thin piece of nylon between the horn and outer cover and drilled a small hole at the bottom edge of the cover to drain any water.

I understand your point of drilling a small hole, but if you do not drill a hole then the horn fills with water when raining or riding on choppy waters. It does not make sense the design of the horn..:(

I attended last night to maintenance class provided for free for new owners of Sea Ray. I brought the point of the horn, and I was told by the senior technicians that the horn is not a good design, they are trying to get a different horn installed with all new Sea Ray's. I was told to make a small hole with a drill 1/16 bit to let water drain. by the way my horn failed on a new 2010 boat, there was no degreating factors other than water on my horn.

When mine was new the horn didnt work either. I drilled the hole and it is fine now,
or as good as a SeaRay horn can be LOL!
