Be careful. That’s all is have to say. I had a canvas company come out to fix my snaps and redrill a few that broke off and, BAM, the window shattered. These guys are good and it’s an honest mistake so just a heads up to anyone trying to tap the metal frame.

That sucks! I have heard those are insanely expensive. Let us know what the cost is when you find out. I assume they are covering it? I did see it was the side window is that glass flat?

They are covering everything so I’ll ask about the price. It is the side window which should be much cheaper. There may be a slight bend but nothing like the curve of the front.

Now there is an example where some seemingly simple projects that could be DIY makes good sense to have a reputable professional take care of. Sadly there are so many flyby night outfits that would just shrug their shoulders and say "uh sorry". Hope they make it right for you, what a bummer.

It’s funny because that morning my wife and I were looking a purchasing a good snap tool. I decided to wait to see how much the job would be and then the incident happened. In all honesty I’m a DIY guy if I can but the good tool was $150. I was hoping the job would be less. I had no idea that taping a new screw on the frame could have caused that.

many of us have that snap tool and it is worth it’s money. Just used it to install all new snaps on new carpet. Couldn’t imagine doing that job with less of a tool.

JP, I have a professional grade tool as well as a huge assortment of snaps. I'm the go to guy among my boating friends to fix their snaps. I've done that same job and grimace every time I drill into the frame to add a snap or drill out a broken screw. All it takes is for the bit to grab and divert a fraction of an inch! I'm gonna think twice about this in the future. Its one thing to fix a F up on my boat but I would hate to have to dig deep to fix some one else's boat!
Cheers

I began using snads on the boat surface that use two sided tape to hold them in place. They do very well. I have had one or two that failed but I think that was due to improper surface prep before install. They have held sunscreens on the windshield in 40 mph winds. They come in different sizes and colors.
