Has anyone replaced their C80 with a C120 or larger unit? Raymarine has a C120 refurb. for not a lot of money, and I want a Bigger Display. The other question is Compatibility is it Plug and play with my existing GPS, Radar.. etc?

Marshall,

IMO, it's plug and play swap. The C70, C80 and C120 belong to the same C-Classic Series and I think they even share the same installation and operation manuals. I'm pretty sure that this is the case, but to be on the safe side just give RM a quick call just to make sure.

Why spend $ on out of date technology? I obviously don't know the whole picture, but the new e series hybrid touch screens are a pretty good value.

The real question here is whether I can use the e series with my existing GPS, Radar??

I know that E/w series will not work and most likely the newer Es won't as well. So, I totally get your point, Marshall. This was the reason I went for E120s Classic. They give me plenty of features, including HS network.

I have no problem with upgrading the MFD for around 1K for a refurb...... But I rather not spend 10 K on a new system when the one I have now is more than adequate!

Unfortunately, this is the dilemma many of us are faced with as the companies trying to push us in to spending more money due to incompatibility of the components. I followed the same logic you have. Loved my C120, but with minor step further to E120s I got much more for a fraction of the price. I love my "old" technology radar and have no reason to replace it. I ran with the mix C120 and E120 for one season and just wanted to have more of shared data like radar between the two MFDs. Otherwise I would just keep C120.

Alex- you have a potentail buyer here for the c-120 if you decide to pull the trigger on this. Mike

Mike, sorry but I sold mine about a month ago.

I have the C120 with radar. I talked to the Raymarine guy at Homecoming about changing. I'd really love to, but given I'm on an enclosed lake I'm sticking with it...for now. The E series is great but requires a new radar setup to go to touch screen. The C series works well for my application.

I'd like to warn you about touch screen. If you go with one make sure it's a hybrid. When it gets bumpy, just the touch screen model will drive you nuts, if you have to make any course plotting or other adjustments.

Go ón thehulltruth - often cheaper than eBay

But I'm not quite sure how you will fit a C120 into the dash. Cutout is larger than dashboard on 2008 310

Sorry if I sounded a bit short :) on previous post - but I thought the size warning needed priority.

Here is a picture of the dash with mm x 10 (2460 = 246mm) measurements. It is not perfect but close enough.

As you can see at the "slim part" the 310 dash is 246mm high.

The cutout for the C120 is 245mm - then add about 15 mm edge all around - so total height is around 275 mm (source : https://flir.box.com/s/0v8e598oxrzsyie4ybgm)

The tallest I have heard about people putting in - is MFD with cutout of about 230 mm (garmin 5212) - since it has smaller bezel than the old C120.

I have a Lowrance HDS 12" G2 Touch in - that hangs slightly over the lower edge. But that is a wide-screen.

So Bugsy - I would not spend $1000 on a new C120 :) If you want large screen - take the Lowrance HDS 12" Touch (which works very well in rough seas due to oversized touch buttons) - and pair it with 4G Radar - and since boat is on land - you have some time to replace the fish finder.

If you have Visio - I can send you the above "drawing" so you can play with placements yourself.
