I ordered replacement screens and gaskets for my 1998 Sundancer SE and am trying to figure out how to change them. I have removed the screws both inside and on the outside of a prot window and have dug out the caulking around the outside of the frame. I have tried to pry the window frame out of the boat using wooden wedges and putty knives and screw drivers to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? I do not want to bend the chrome window frame or crack the fiberglass behind it.

Are you talking about the gaskets between the porthole window & frame?

A word of caution. When you get them out there are little tiny "nuts" that are real easy to lose. Some will be embedded in the old caulk. If you lose any, you will have to fabricate them as I could not find them anywhere

Might be another of the "one & done" fellas as this was his first ( and only) post thus far.

Not a wasted thread though, as I will be doing this same job soon. The information is much appreciated.

Are you just changing the gaskets & screens or removing & rebedding the port holes?

I figure I'll completely remove the ports and re-bed them with new gaskets and stainless screens.

Where can you get replacement gaskets? All the previously posted links are no longer available. I need to replace the portlight gaskets on my 98 450DA.

Hello, I keep following the links above to get advice on replacing the screens/gaskets on our 98 400 EC. Any new advice?
