I tried looking on Youtube, but almost all videos are on how to replace the snaps on the cover itself. I have a new to me 04 Sundeck that has several snaps missing from the hull, and a few very loose ones. They seem straight forward to install, but my question is what if the old screw "stripped" the hole it was in, how do you best deal with that?

I have used 5200 sealant in the hole. Let it set up. Then predrill and reinstall the snap.

They make snaps that have a larger screw.

I have always used this stuff In the past

But this year I tried Pettit...side by side in Walmart and you get twice as much at a cheaper price.... fill the hole, predrill

If you can get to the backside of the snap they make them in bolt & nut style...

I’ve replaced them by both installing the oversized threaded ones for a quick job, and by filling the hole with two part epoxy, re-drilling and putting a standard size snap back in when I have more time.
Personally, I like the two part epoxy method better, but either will work.
