Hey folks newb here but trying to contribute as well while I take alot of your input. I don't know if this is pre-painted or treated but slathering on some POR15 now that you're done Beer might be helpful. I've used it to restore a car, paint the chassis, exhaust and manifold and it does work. Heat resistant, locks out rust and even locks it out in existing rusty spots.... i.e. some of your existing joints/connections now. Might be worth it to get ahead of anything else that's stable but starting to corrode and/or seal up the new. Stuff is little know and amazing. Always wondered about it for outdrive. Good post and project too, well done. I have to tackle that "replace the bunks" at my hillbilly launch ramp soon. Kinda like working on the car at Autozone that you see all the derelicts do.
