Replaced the 4 cockpit speakers, the VHF radio, and the stereo in the can. Now I need to replace the cabin speakers.
How do they come out? (so I don't tear up something, trying)
Thanks all!

The speaker covers are just friction-fitted into the hole. Just gently pry them out.

What speakers are you installing? I'm in the process of upgrading my entire system and adding tower speakers to the arch. I'm interested in what fits in the cabin speaker location. Was thinking about Polks. I'm installing 4 Polk Mm651UM, 1 MM1040UM sub, and 4 JL m880's (2 flush mount 2 tower speakers) in the cockpit all powered by JL audio amps. This should sound pretty good when I'm done next week. Im not sure if I want to upgrade the cabin speakers yet since they still sound ok but interested in seeing what works.

I installed Polks out in the cockpit. Sound great!
I will have to remove a speaker in the cabin first, to see what I have to work with.
I installed the clarion M505 and matching remote, as the new head unit. Seems pretty good so far. Blue tooth (no cd) Pandora, Weather band, USB, MP3. So far the only thing I don't like is, while using Bluetooth from my iPhone, you cannot ramp volume up or down from my from phone. I like that feature. All other features work, mute, ffwd, rwd, etc I will call Clarion Monday and see if it's a function or a firmware upgrade, perhaps.

Did you insert a putty knife (or similar) and pry? The fabric covering the speaker seems pretty fragile. I tried a little yesterday and they didn't budge. Super tight and not much of a gap to pry.

The fabric doesn't really cover the actual speaker. Instead, Sea Ray makes a wooden trim ring, covers that in fabric, then press fits it into the hole (the speaker is already installed). Yes, anything you can think of to gently start prying the ring out (screwdriver, etc). It's probably just "stuck" a little bit from being there so long. Just do a little bit at a time and work your way around. Better to go slow - but it's pretty tough (not super fragile, or anything).

I installed the same head unit and JL speakers in my cockpit. I honestly rarely use the cabin speakers! Maybe I'm too old and/or only really sleep inside the cabin? ha.

That said, be careful when you pop the covers off. If you use too much force you'll find that the covers will want to release on their own eventually...it's a fine line.

Good luck and enjoy the tunes.

So about to replace cock pit speakers on 2002 340.. with some wet sounds. The 4 I am removing are 2 way kenwoods. While they suck, they are way better then what’s in the cabin. So are the cabin 6.5? And if so did these grills/round mesh just pop out?

While I have people with same Boat did you guys have to use spacers on the arch for better speakers? I know JL audios says 3.1” depth so if those fit the 2.6 wet sounds should as well.

I used spacers in the arch for my JL's. They would not fit without.

I personally would not waste the time replacing the cabin speakers if you have functional speakers already in there. And yes...the grills will pop out unless a prior owner applied some kind of adhesive...

Yea just have read other threads saying you can’t do that cause they are mounted backwards. So I am double checking before I screw up my headliner/speaker covers.

If it's a fabric-type, round cover, that protrudes slightly from the bulkhead... then it is just fit in there by friction. Do you have a picture?

Oddly enough, the fit from the wood ring is tight! Maybe it swells a little over time. Have to be SUPER careful popping them out or you'll leave a divot!

Ok guy I got the rings off factory clarions sitting there. My others where to big to install and get the rings back on. So will leave them alone.

Good news is WET SOUNDS 6.5s (SW-65ic-w) fit in the arch with no spacers...haha all for mounted and sounding good. But the factory amp (MAA120-2) is not enough, I mean it works and it sounds way better. But you just start getting the new speakers moving and the amp starts distorting and sounding like crap.... so more power will allow a lot more volume before distortion.

Have a new amp lined up thatshould resolve that pushing 125 rms to the 6.5s and 250 rms To a wet sounds 10 at the same time.
