Replacing Air Conditioner / Heat Pump

Have a 2000 Sundancer 310 with the original 10,000 BTU Cruiseair air conditioner / heat pump that's beyond repair. Talked with my local Cruiseair dealer and the replacement unit alone will cost $2600. Will have to adapt the bulkhead mounted controller. Priced a similar all inclusive (controller and unit) Aqua Air system for around $2000. Any thoughts/recommendations for replacing cooling/heating systems? Reliable brands? tips on installation?

Is that a subjective or objective statement. What facts do you have to back it up. I've no dog in this fight, but would like to know because I am a boater who may be in the market for an AC unit in the near future and who would come here for advice and guidance.

I don't have a dog in the fight either, but don't just look at BTUs and dollars. Talk to the suppliers. You need to compare the CFM of the fans, and electrical demand. Also, I'm sure ducting (length and diameter) is a factor.

Before I decided to sell the big boat I was going to add AC to it. During my research I really was impressed with the Webasto FCF system. Here is one on eBay:

I replaced my A/C on our 340 before I sold it. CruiseAir was 2300$. MarinAire was 1500$ and also more advanced. Examples include having high and low pressure gauges built into the unit so you know how it is performing. 360 degree rotation on nozzle...the list goes on. I would recommend that rather that just going OEM, look into others. My buddy is a A/C service tech and when he saw the MarinAire compared to CruiseAir, he said it was a better unit which includes material for construction. So just my opinion, but why not look.
