I want a Samsung 28 inch smart TV but they do not make it any longer. It is perfect to fit in the space I have available. A 32 or 33 is way to big to fit. I do want a TV with a tuner, not a monitor. Any suggestions for this? I also want a 24 Samsung smart TV as well, for the berth, but they no longer build these also.

Anyplace to buy refurbished models?

+1 on skipping the whole "smart TV" thing. Roku, AppleTV, et al. Can be updated and enhanced as new services come available.

I modified my AppleTV to run on 12VDC and have a 12V TV. I can stream when I'm away from shore power without any pesky inverters or having to run the generator.

Pipe the audio through to your onboard stereo and you've got yourself a boat theater.

For the tv, find one that has an external power-brick. If 12V, you can just snip it off and wire it directly to your battery system. If the brick is 18 v (very common), you can get a voltage converter from Amazon to wire between the TV and your battery system.

Everywhere that I have a "smart tv" (den, gym, boat etc) I just don't connect ethernet or wifi to the tv, and use some other source. Can you even get dumb TVs anymore?

I have a couple of Samsung 32s in the cabin: one mounted where the slide-out tv/vcr used to be and a second one on a stand that I pull out and put on the galley countertop if I'm working from the sofa.

Have you checked amazon? I've seen lots of older models there and on eBay as well.

I have a seven year old "smart" Samsung in my living room that I'm using a Roku Express +in order to get the streaming services I want. I have a 2 year old Samsung tv in the basement and it pulls in everything I want and it's much easier to navigate. I'm going to be replacing the old OEM TV in the front berth this summer with a something Samsung.

We put 28" LGs in the MSR and aft cabin 18 months ago. A 32" Samsung in the salon and a 40" on the arch in the cockpit. All are smart TVs and have worked flawlessly to date.

I remember it being tough to find the 28" models, but my wife found them somewhere online and ordered them. I remember this because they sent ones in white that she sent back for the standard black ones.

@MonacoMike Which locations are you putting these? I upgraded my TVs last summer and can get you model numbers for what I installed - that might help your search.

I saw that also but when you click on where to buy it says:
"We're sorry. We couldn't find any online sellers for this product."

So maybe an intense round of brick and mortar reconnaissance will be in order.

Ah, didn't get that far... My bad.

just bought 3 Vizio's for the 44. $525.72 for all. 2 32's 1 24. My guy said they would fit.
Personally no idea.
Oh, bought m at Walmart.

Majestic makes DC TVs for RVs and boats. Quality is great. A little pricey but theirs is a specialty oriented product for those applications. It is an Australian company.

So I have a full size style refrigerator that had a CRT TV above it. A previous owner created a nifty TV mount that hinges and latches making the TV itself into a door that covers the old TV cabinet. It is our food locker. This web photo shows the location and another owner that put a TV up there but it shows the space I have. A 28 fits perfect and the older style 24 TV with a thick bezel was what is there now and it went out.

I bought a LG that I did not realize was not a smart TV last fall and found that LG mount holes on the TV are a few inches higher than Samsung requiring a refit of the custom mount.

Some of us (like me) have boats that were originally fitted for square, deep tube style televisions.

I bought a THIN TV (I think it's a 32"),it's about 1.25" deep, and mounted it ON the opening. (photos follow)

Below and behind that opening I installed a 1/4" black acrylic panel to cover the blank space AND house the stereo and Blu Ray player.

The sound systems are connected with a very simple optical cable.

Tuner & FM radio reception is achieved with a flat semi-flexible powered antenna attached with a couple of foam core scraps to the ceiling of the closet, forward of the windshield, directly below the fiberglass foredeck

This antenna provides surprisingly good reception for both the TV and Radio.

Removing the factory Hi-Fi Stereo, VHS and CD changer created additional closet/storage space.

The huge area behind flatscreen, where the old TV used to rest on slideouts is now accessible from the closet behind via a snap-in canvas panel (on order)

The huge vacant area behind the closet has also now been opened up all the way to the hullsides and we now have an additional area for more closet space full length hanging closet and a storage shelf.

This is on the 450DA

We have actually MORE THAN DOUBLED the factory closet space in that starboard closet.

Going to do the same with the old tube TV/VCR combo in the fwd berth for even MORE storage space.

Might take out the midcabin TV/VCR and replace that with a six bottle wine cooler?

Anyhow, here's some before, after and during photos.

For now I put a sheet of cheap shelf liner cork in the ottom of the former stereo/VCR cabinet. Still need to finish the rear side of that by installing a covered PVC panel.

I'll post photos of the big, newly expanded closet when it's finished, right now it looks kinda rough.

BEST !

I have since better centered the TV on that space.
