Kids "misplaced" one of the keys to the 205 Sport this summer. Anyone with experience copying the other key versus ordering a new one from sea-ray? Just guessing copying will be MUCH cheaper.

To prevent possible theft, trustworthy shops may not copy boat keys--they treat them like car keys. I wanted an extra set when I bought mine but got turned down locally. I didn't pursue it so hopefully others know for sure, but I imagine you could take your ownership papers to a dealership or contact Sea Ray directly; they may want the numbers/a code from the key you do have, as well.

All newer SeaRays use a small selection of keys. I leaned this with my 240DA and 350DA when I went to my dealer's parts department and bought spare sets of keys.

There's a code, usually on a small rectangular metal piece, that came with your original set of keys. That code tells them which key goes to your boat. I kid you not, there are only a handful of different types! I saw them pull out the box and find my boat's key.

I have both ignition keys and a cabin key and they both have codes. Since you have a newer SeaRay I'd check with your dealer or a dealer near you about spare keys.

When I bought keys from my dealer it was just a couple of bucks. No more than the cost of getting one cut.

Local lock and key place copies ours without issue. I had several sets made. Ordering is too expensive. Worst case scenario - my buddy's key is the same as mine on the ignition.

A boat key is almost worthless. With the wires readily accessible and no steering lock, the key is only a minor inconvenience to a thief set on taking it.

Well, was at my dealer today anyway to plan for winter storage, and Sea Ray only charge $7 for two new ones, so ordered them.

Copy's of keys to the cabin are pricey, never replaced ignition keys but key to cabin are close to twenty dollars as on specialty key/locksmiths have ability to copy key

I had a totally different experience. My boat has (2) ignition keys and one cabin key. I paid about $10 for a set of all three from my dealer.

I have bought replacement keys direct from the dealer for a couple of bucks each...

That's awesome, thanks for the link. If I ever need another key, I know where to go!!

I went to a local locksmith and found a basic Y11 key works perfectly and I paid $2 for the key. I have a 2006 Searay 260 Sundancer.

I actually found a perfect match at Walmart, cost 80 cents. I have a 04 240 Sundeck.

I have the same boat. Just curious, is the Y11 for the ignition or the cabin? Thanks!
