Hey gang,

So on my new Sport 190 we got last year, it has the two safety chains attached for the trailer. The chains are starting to rust in areas, which I do not care for.

I have seen like these steel braided cables of sort that have a vinyl covering over them, used in place of safety chains - safety cables I guess.

Anyone familiar with these, and have any recommendations that I could consider replacing my chains with?

Thanks for any tips,

You probably know this, but the rust you see is only superficial/cosmetic. It'll be a couple decades before it becomes a safety issue, or longer. But, for looks, sure the vinyl coated cable is good. Try to find ones with colored vinyl - the clear kind sometimes starts to look nasty after a time. Another option is replacing with SS chain.

I spray paint my chains with rustoleum silver paint, and they look nice for at least a season.

Great thanks for the tips guys, may just spray the rust areas for now.
