Just curious to know if after you replaced your factory carpet, did you go back with the snaps or eliminated that and did industrial strength velcro?

Reason I'm asking is, I never did get new snaps installed on mine because I didn't like the humps that the snaps leave on the footprint of the carpet edges. I'm thinking about just removing the male ends that are screwed into the cockpit floor and filling the holes with a little 5200 and then strategically placing some industrial strength velcro on the backs of the new carpet and let it lay flat.

What do you guys think?

Try it for a while. You can always screw the snaps back in if you don't like it and then put matching snaps on the carpet. So I wouldn't use 5200 just yet until you are sure you aren't going back.

I used industrial strength Velcro on the padding I had on my swim platform, on my last boat. I decided to remove it and replace it with snaps. The opposite of what you are thinking. The Velcro glue was almost impossible to remove. I tried heat, acetone, and you name it, and eventually got most of it off, although you can see the Velcro outline in a few places. Personally, I would stay with the snaps on your carpet. Possibly use fewer? My current boat has very few on the cockpit carpeting, and it stays in place. Also, if you want to run without the carpet, for whatever reason, the snaps looks a lot better than strips of Velcro on the floor.
