hey does any body have a easy way to replace a trans cooler it looks like a 4 advil job upside down.... I think it needs replacing as i have oil slick behind the boat at idle... would there be water in the transmission if there was a leak??:smt100

I don't have pictures but I did my port one and it's not nice. Took the carb off put blankets on top of the engine and spent 2 days upside down. I got it but what a *****...... Motrin and crown royal afterwards.....Good luck

questions did you have an oil slick out the back as well , or did you notice water in the oil trans? just want to make sure thats my problem before i start screaming up side down/:smt013

No the end cap came off the cooler. I could of had it repaired but it is to much of a pain in the butt to change. Whay are you changing yours??

I would expect to find milky transmission fluid if it were the cooler that was bad. When do you see the slick? Under way or at rest? Remember there is also a crankcase oil cooler that could be bad. Check all your fluids and if you don't see water in there and you're still concerned get an oil analysis. If there is water in either, do not run the boat!

I had a tiny oil slick a few years ago as an actuator for the trim tab was leaking.

I see it when I am idling at the dock or coming into the dock , and with this golf spill going on now everyone notices it. It only happens when running.
So you say it could be the engine oil cooler and that would be on the right side of the starboard engine would that cause it as well....? I see no water in the oil on dip stick not milky at all, but could oil leak in to exhaust from there as well...hmmm :smt024

Certainly water can get OUT from there but it'll fill up the cranckase or tranny pretty quickly - if oil can get out, it can get in too, and a lot faster.

I own a ‘97 EC330, twin Mercruiser 454s. There is currently milky fluid When checking my transmission and I just replaced the transmission coolers and engine coolers with brand new ones. What might this mean? Any suggestions are appreciated.

I can only tell you what's going on with mine.

I have a split cooling tube, it's drawing transmission fluid and it's seen in my exhaust water. I have no signs of water in my transmission.

Thanks, and I also had signs of some oil or transmission fluid coming out the exhaust as well.
