I have a 2001 280 SD. I believe my AC Converter is dead - It has been behaving erratic and has boiled my starter battery dry over the fall/winter. The amp guage jumps around from 0 to 20 amps, and the light stays red and never turns to green. I called the rep and he says I should replace with Pro Mariner 1220i (20 amp for 3 batts) - and he will sell it to me for $189 (approx). The Pro Mariner is a different size/shape than the Flyback 20-3 that is currently in the boat - and it will require some modifications to the wiring harness.
I am wondering if others have replaced their AC Converter - and if so, what brand did you choose for the replacement? If you haven't replaced - then what type of converter is on your boat?
Thanks so much.

Two years ago had a "Guest 16153" installed to replace the Flyback that cooked three of my batteries. The mechanic mounted the Guest in the same location but he did have to cut the plug-in power cable and replace it with Ring Terminals. Have had no problems and a visual check of the "Status LED display" makes it easy to monitor the charger.
