While in the engine compartment today, I notice that the hot water outlet hose (red) on my water heater was leaking at the Whale Quick Connect elbow. Looks like the "ring thinghy" that is around the hose as it enters the fitting is pulled up more than on the cold water in fitting and thus the source of the leak? Can this be repaired using the existing fitting? Should I get a new fitting? I tired to find "how to" instructions on the Internet for the Whale system but had no luck.

Thanks for any input on this.

Does your fitting have a metal band crimped on the od of the tubing? OR is it the style that is a push to connect. If it is the push to connect type, you can simply try pushing the tubing back into the fitting body. If it has the crimped metal ring, I would replace the fitting with a push in body style. The tubing for hot and cold is 15mm, water heater thread is 1/2 npt. I bought some of them from West Marine, Sea Tech was the brand (they have black bodies)

I did some more looking on the web and found information on the Whale system. And yes, it looks like I just need to push the tubing back down into the fitting.
Thanks for responding.

Here are some Watts/Sea Tech fittings. Do they look like these , only metric?

You can get them at Lowes or Ace Hardware. Here is a video of how to connect and disconnect the fittings.

Sort of, especially the "tan" rings around the fitting where the tubes go in. I'm going by memory at this point.
