Has anyone found a replacement for the Ancor Festoon End Cap Bulbs? I assume it is the entire bulb assembly and some resourceful member of this group has probably done the research.

I am replacing two on the bridge.

I replaced my festoons with LED's, from SuperBright, like Ed linked to. Just measure your current ones and match it up with the new ones. At least that way you're sure to get the right ones. For what it's worth, I replaced mine with red ones as I think the white ones are too bright. I really only need enough light to see where I'm walking - with the white ones, I can just about read by them! Red doesn't mess with your night vision and apparently it doesn't attract as much bugs, either.

Dennis,
Do you know what LED count/size you've tried? I was planning on soft white but was stuck on how bright 6 vs 9 LED? It seems like you have tried the whites before switching to red.
Thanks....

Ed, I did this swap about 5 years ago. At the time, I don't think the soft white was available. But, yes, the white was pretty bright. Are you after something bright? I should add that the red still gives PLENTY of light to see where you're going - don't want you to think that it's "dark", by any means. I added red LED's to the underside of my transom locker (comes on automatically when the lid is opened) and that works really well - lights up the entire platform nicely.

I can check when I get home tonight and count the LED's.

Ken, thanks for the information I canceled a previous order for a sealed unit that was expensive and would have required extra work. I ordered two bulbs to ensure an adequate fit. I will experiment with color later. We are finally recovered from the invasion of the 3 and 7 year olds. We bumped into Doug Murray at Willowberm on Sunday and he was amused with the unloading the non-boater family. They would not have done well at the Circle Cruise.

Thanks again and see you soon, Bill
