My boat has 5 brass thru hulls with lenses on the outside and underwater light cartridges accessible from the engine room. I am replacing the lights and 3 of them are stuck. The two cartridges that came out just slid right out no problem, but the 3 stuck ones seem to be in there pretty tight. I have sprayed Deep Creep in the thru hull and let it sit, and I tug on the wire as hard as I dare, but they won't budge. Does anyone have any ideas (short of pulling the boat and removing the thru hulls) for getting these cartridges out of the thru hulls. Thanks!

The steel or aluminum ring with the wire entering it gets tossed and replaced with the new cartridge, correct?

Is the material in the centre hard like an epoxy or soft like a silicone?

Yes, that aluminum ring that you are seeing is the back of the light cartridge. It goes away. The center material is epoxy.

I had considered something similar...drill a hole, insert a self tapping screw, and get some pliers on the screw. The dent puller would be easier, especially given the tight quarters.

It might be just the angle of the camera, but it almost looks like the ring might be cocked sideways opposite that wire which is binding it up. The first thing I would try would be to keep steady pressure on that wire and use a punch or something long to tap the ring just below at 7:00. You might get lucky, straighten it up and have it pop right out.

Can you share where you bought the new lights, did you go with LED's ?

Aqualights.
We were only able to free up one of the lights, on the other two we replaced the thru hulls.

In mine, there were two pieces, a HID Xenon light socket housing (what you see in the picture) with the light socket epoxied in place, and then a focus lens below that to focus the light down and out.

I was able to get both parts out of 1 and the socket housing pulled in the other. I really didnt need to pull the focus lens, so left it in place. I just replaced the socket and lamps, and they are both working, but pretty dim by todays standards.

They offer an LED upgrade. Did you go with that? They also have reconditioned through hulls.

I think I have the original Sea Vision SV16, they are very dim, can't find replacement Led's ( LED's only for SV19 available) so I am just going to change the bulbs, was not sure if they are standard H1 Halogens, if so I can go with 80W blues, any insight is appreciated.
