I have read and watched WM videos and more on the removal of the 30amp shore power outlet. Here's the issue. There are four screws in the plate. I believe they are like a wood screw since when you are installing the outlet they tell you to drill a small tap hole then start the screw in.
My issue is the screws won't come out they just keep turning in the holes. I have to replace the unit b/c it has some very bad burn marks.
Any help/suggestions would be great.
My boat is the 400EC
Thanks,
Joe

Take a small flat headed screw driver and pry it up under the screw head while you're turning the screw. It should back out at that point.

I did and I even took a hammer (claw end) to have some force while I back them out. Not a one would come out. I am very close to cutting them off with my dremel.

Makes wonder if they are not bolts. I could see how during manufacture that area would be open for through bolting. Any possibility of removing an interior panel?

They are thru bolted. I took mine off last summer. You need one person inside the boat & another outside.

We did the same thing last year. Had to remove the panel on the inside to get access to the nuts holding it on.

Your main electrical panel is hinged on the left side.
Philips screw driver to remove the small black screws around the edge of the panel should allow you to get to the back of the inlets.
Unplug from shore power first because, you could have a shocking experience.

Let me know if it works out ... I need to do the same soon.

And remember that your shore power cords (female end) are most likely the culprit in the "burning" of your shore power inlet receptacles. Either replace the female cord caps or replace the cords, otherwise you will have to do this again.

And once the inlet/outlet is replaced remember to shut the shore power off before unplugging the cord. And also make sure the breaker is off before plugging the shore power in as well. These steps prevent arcing and burning of the contacts.

All - thanks for the info. I did not know about the panel removal. I was told just remove the screws as there are no nuts on the back end.
I am replacing the female ends with some new locking types. I hope.
All very good info. I'll let you know tomorrow how I made out.
thanks again,
Joe

+1 on the bolt through. Took me 4 hours of prying to figure out that I had to take the paneling off inside the boat to get a backer on them. I was too embarrassed to ask the forum for help since I was struggling to get 4 Phillip heads off. Those inlets are pricey 80 dollars for a SS one.

I can't tell you how long I have been trying. LOL
I see you are in Raleigh, NC. My son and his family live in Cary. He owns GolfETC of Cary. My other past time - playing golf.
Where do you boat?

UPDATE: So I went to my boat after work. Removed the screws from the panel. Had know idea that panel would open like that, so thanks for that info. Took me a while to find the nuts which I very small. However, removal not so easy by yourself. So hopefully I will have someone either tonight or Saturday to help me.

I'll let you know how I do. Thanks again for all the advice. Good Stuff.

Joe,
That's why I said you need two people! Lol
I had to remove mine while away in Newport last summer. I tried having my wife help but then a couple guys on the dock came over & helped out. And you're right, the nuts are very small on those screws! Good luck!

Todd,
I was going to try and either put vice grips on the screw or the nuts but couldn't get it so tonight/tomorrow I hire my marina buddy since he just sold his 38footer and has nothing to do.
thanks again,
Joe
