I have a 1995 300 sundancer that has play in the steering. The wheel will go 3 inches either direction before it hits resistance where the rack will move. It is power assisted as well. Does anyone know how to tighten this play up?

If it is 3 inches either way, that could be entirely normal. hate to say it. My AJ had brand new steering and good gimble housing pins. Still had 2-3 inches each way. The best way to check is to look at your steering assembly where the cable goes into the ram assembly next to your outdrive (on the inside, behind the motor). Turn the wheel slightly and see how much slack you have.

A very small amount of slop back by the outdrive in the linkage connections is amplified by the ratio in your steering wheel assembly.

I don't know anything about "power assisted" steering...
But if there's a hydraulic component, "slop" is often caused by air in the system.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check it out. New to the website, I'm glad I found it. Great source of information.
