Hi guys,
I'm having to remove my windlass to have some glass work done in that area (soft spot)/. I have loosened the 4 nuts that attach the gear housing thru the fiberglass and removed the motor to lessen the weight when/if it decides to come down. When looking at a parts diagram it seems that there is nothing that would be holding the gearhousing to the shaft except the keyway. I have tried to get it down with a gear puller and it wont budge. Am I missing something? I was looking next to disassemble the gear housing and try it that way. Anyone have any advice? I have never had the windlass apart but I have replaced the motor on it about 5 yrs ago. Thanks in advance.
