Removal of the crapper in a 90 DA 220

I am having problems somewhere behind the crapper in my DA-220 with water leaking into the cabin and pooling on the floor when it rains heavily. Right now I have the entire inside of the boat apart to install new carpet, with the exception of the crapper assembly and the boat is on a trailer with at least a 5 degree nose high pitch. There isn't much room left inside of the cabin with the sink/stove assembly already sitting in the seating area. I really don't want to put the inside back together without fixing this problem. I have already checked the step drain. That's not it.
Anyone who can help, or any suggestions, PLEASE bring it on

My guess would be where the wiper motor (the windshield wiper) is going thru.

Or, one of the bow railing flanges is leaking.

Can you post some pics of the boat gutted on the inside? I am thinking of re-doing the inside of ours also.

I put a light coat of silicone around all the railing flanges just to see, but I never considered the wiper motor. That would be a prime spot. I will take some pics tomorrow and post. The carpet comes out in several pieces pretty easily. I cut construction paper templates of all the pieces. I purchased the carpet from Lowes which is OEM marine grade carpet. Looking at old compared to new, it is the same stuff. $ around 6 and change per yard. I am also refinishing the inside compeletely with new fabric, cushion covers, fake leather, etc. Already finished the headliner as you will see. Just have to trace down this leak..
Thanks for the info.

How difficult was the headliner to remove and replace? How about the hatch rings? They look like a real PITA to remove.

Can't wait to see the finished project...

Oh, a question... what is behind the area to the left of the cabin door just over the aft cabin?? I was thinking of putting a tv there.

wow interesting project. I unbolted and resealed almost all of my bow rail stanchions with 5200...they were leaking.

H2ONUT, I am not exactly sure where you are talking about for your TV. I am going to mount a flat screen monitor, around 24", on the side of the crapper facing the seating area. I want to find a radio CD/DVD player.

My headliner was in poor shape being covered with water stains and mold. I refinished it with some high dollar waterproof fabric paint. The color is a light cream color. Also refinished is the refrig/stove/sink housing, color to match with top deck jelcoat paint.
Now I have to find some really pretty wood to re-trim everything. Then new fabric to recover the sides of the boat and all the cushions. Sure want to have the inside done in the next couple weeks.

OK, so you never removed the headliner... hmmm

What did you use to brighten it up?

I cleaned the headliner as absolutely good as I could, then used high dollar waterproof and stainproof fabric paint. Worked beautifully. The trim rings, yes, they were a pain in the #$$, pretty much glued in place with silicone. I did get them off though. Have already removed and refinished all the teak trim inside but am missing a few pieces that I could not re-use and will have to find new. I am hoping my interior designer will be able to go fabric shopping today.

Here's a few shots of my DVD players...please post pics of your completed project.

Quint, looks really nice inside. I did my carpet yesterday and today. Have a little bit to go but pretty much finished. Got excited so pics were prior to cleaning up much.

WOW!!!! Nice job... :smt038 Now hurry up and finish the rest...

lookin' good ! I thought about putting flexiteak or something similar in the cabin...don't know if it would work out with the various angles of the floor.

Did new sink hardware and some trim yesterday. Now I have to take a 10 day break and go back to work. Had such a head of steam up too.
Quint, I have never heard of flexiteak. I can't see after putting in carpet how you could put any trim around the floor. I am going to find something nice to put under the crapper door instead of that hideous carpeted piece of plywood too. Now to send the lady to the fabric store for the sides and cushions. Do all that when I get back.

Quint, Hey, I was just looking at your pics. Did you replace your shower door? Mine is rounded. I notice yours is squared and very beautifully trimmed in teak I must add. looks way nicer.

That is the original door...there is a shower sump...located under the flip up hatch in front of the mid-cabin area...I do not have a diagram.
