I'm replacing the hoses on my remote oil filter. Anyone know
how to remove hose 5? Do I unscrew part 9 ?? Can I do this without pulling the engine ??
Thanks

I did my 4.3s in my 1997 290da without pulling the engines.

Do they look like this?

Thanks..

Here is my set up..Engine serial no is OM345316. Your bottom hose (hose 9) is a little different than mine. It looks like your nut simply screws off. Mine (hose 5) has the metal tube coming into the side of the hex nut so it doesn't simply screw off. I'm thinking maybe I need to unscrew part 9, and let the whole adapter fall off ?

you remove 5 and 6 first
. when removing 5 hold 9 from turning.remove hose ,then remove 9 to remove remote filter housing

Thanks.. you were able to do that without pulling the engine too ?? that's pretty good. Must be pretty a messy job too.

Line the bilge with oil absorbent pads first. Suck as much oil out as possible. Crack the oil filters loose a thread or three and let gravity pull all the oil back into the pan for about 15 minutes before you start.

Clean up with plenty of degreaser afterward.

My hose has a Banjo Fitting at the bottom of the oil adapter. It's not the same as shown in the pictures below. Anyone familiar with that set up ? I imagine there must be a big bolt that holds the fitting in place ?? It's far underneath so it's hard to get good look it.
