Remote Distance for Radio

Hi All
I have a 1991 SD-280 and I want to add a radio with a preferred wireless remote control. Since the Radio is located inside, I was wondering if anyone out there has a recommendation for a radio with wireless remote that they have working from outside the cabin and how far away have you been with it still working.

Most marine and auto radios have infrared remotes and work “line of sight”. They can have good range and even extended range with repeaters but the sunlight of day will simply weaken your range to just a couple yards and maybe less. If your plan was to remotely make a change on your radio from the water or swim platform you will have to go RF (Radio Frequency) remote. RF is not line of sight and will give you 50 foot plus range from any direction.

Alpine has at least one Marine radio with RF remote. Just Google and shop.

I am experiencing over 100 feet range on my RF Remote for my IPOD.

"RF" got ya. I am looking for the boat to be a 28 foot IPOD.
