Hi,
My steering set up over the winter.I disconnected the cable from the merc and it still was tighter more than it should. Some are now going with fluid repacement but i would have to change my autopilot if I went that way.
Any expereince doing this job would be more than welcome
thanks

HI, Just in case you need a new steering cable, I just removed one from a 1988 268 yesterday. Steering worked fine, I am dismantling the boat. PM me if you need it.

Hi,Thanks everyone I found a reasonable one close by at west marine. The job still looks daunting somewhat. Some say leave the old cable in or take it out.Have to see if it's tied into a harness anywhere.
Thanks agin
john
