How is the reliability of the 2012 Zeus pods on the 470 Sundancer? Do the seals leak? Have there been any performance issues with them. What is the frequency and type of maintenance required?

I can only talk from my own Experiences. This is my first season with my Zeus Pod’s and so far I have had a power steering actuator seal go which was almost $8000 to repair and six weeks later I noticed a small hydraulic leak coming from a couple of my hoses. There are 18 hydraulic lines in all, Cost to replace all of those was $5700. So I’ve had in the last three months Close to $14,000 in unexpected repairs In addition to the normal maintenance that I have had already done at the beginning of the season. That being said, these were wear items and were bound to fail at some point, it just so happened they failed after my purchase and close together. Now that I have everything brought up to date I am hoping I have no more issues other than just a normal schedule maintenance. Overall I absolutely love my boat and love Zeus Pod‘s. Just go in knowing that owning that boat is not going to be cheap and that there is more Maintenance than a lot of other power trains

Thank you for the feedback. Just wondering about how boat handling is when one POD fails? Rob

When I lost my seal, I had to limp in on only one pod and it was fine. Same as if you had v drives or straight shafts and lost one motor.
