hey guys, I don’t think this will be a problem but I’ve been wrong before.

Any issue reinstalling alpha drives in the cold, so 25-35 degrees? I’d like to get a head start on spring, and although it doesn’t take long to do two drive installs the less to do the better when we get close to splash. It’s a busy year for us.

The only thing I can think of would be the bellows adhesive used to hold the big rubber Oring in place not curing properly in the cold, but that stuff is really tacky. I would think the gasket and other pieces should seat up just fine?

Thanks

I would definitely check the mfg’s Recommend installation temps for the adhesive before I did this.

Just checked the adhesive it says “best results” when surfaces are above 65*. I don’t think the adhesive does much after the drive is actually installed, but I guess for the hour or two I’ll save it’s probably worth just waiting for warmer weather.

Or warm the area with a halogen light for an hour or so and keep the adhesive warm until use?

I think you will be fine. The adhesive just hold the O ring in place until the drive is installed. A lot of people just use a dab of grease to hold it in place. Keep the adhesive warm until you are ready to use it. Don’t over think this.
