I had been watching the issues with Regal Owners Club. In case you didn't know the previous site manager took the site down and then auctioned the domain. Well, now it appears Sea Ray bought their domain name. It was up for auction for $5k and it now redirects to Sea Ray's site. Whoever is in charge of marketing at Sea Ray - needs to be fired. That is sleazy to buy the owners domain.

Plus who the hell is writing those Press Releases for Sea Ray?

Makes me embarrassed to own a Sea Ray to know that Sea Ray would buy an independent owners group domain and redirects to Sea Ray. Sounds like somebody at Sea Ray feels threatened by Regal.

No i think it was revenge on the part of the site owner. he was upset that regal didn't buy it so he re-directed it to sea rays site. I believe he never sold it or couldn't sell it. there was a thread about this before.

I missed it and stand corrected. Makes me feel better.

Can a specific web site like the Sea Ray site block something that is redirected like that? Maybe some of our technical gurus have an opinion on that one.

regalownersclub.com owner information is being kept private (http://www.whois.sc/regalownersclub.com) but the domain's dns points to ECUI.COM which is web hosting company.

The owner of regalownersclub.com is hosting the website at ECUI.COM but all it's doing once it goes there is redirecting to http://owners.searay.com/sea_ray_owners_club.asp

Searay's domain name info shows (http://www.whois.sc/searay.com):
Brunswick Corporation
Erik Grissell
1 North Field Court
Lake Forest, IL 60045
US

as the owner of the domain.

and the DNS information indicates to me Searay them self are hosting their own domain on a server at their office in the orlando area of florida.

They could do another redirect or just put up an error page. It is quite easy to do. I don't really think that it is up to Sea Ray to deal with it though.

There are methods in PHP and ASP to alter the META code in such a way that the referrer is hidden or obfuscated. If this is being done then there is no way for Sea Ray to know how you got there.

True, I was assuming that the referrer was still in the header.

Yes, it is just sour grapes from the regaownersclub.com owner. He also owns and operates the web hosting site ECUI.com. The link is a simple redirect to SeaRay.

The guy (Ed Unreinoops...sorry --did not mean to mention names) is a real jerk and he wanted to sell the site to Regal Corp. Regal did not bite and it pissed him off, hence the re-direct.

I recently sold my Regal and purchased a SR.
I was on the Regal site a lot. Like this site, it was extremely helpful.
