Hope everyone is doing well with the quarantine.

I just learned that the burl covers on those electronic switch pads many of us have on our boats can be refinished. Attached is a photo of the switch pad I am talking about.

Refinishing would work for me, as mine are still functioning normally but I accidentally put some nicks and scrapes in them doing work in the dash area.

Does anyone know how to remove the burl cover from the switch pad? Do they pry off, or are there screws holding them on? Is it difficult or is there a trick to it?

I don’t want to damage them trying to get them off.

Thanks for your help.

I want to say the ones on our 280 were held together with fasteners. I know I took them off when I redid the gauge panels in teak on our 280. But in any event, isn’t your question better answered by the guy redoing them? At the very least if he can’t answer, he might not be the guy for the job!

Please disregard, Tecnografic has sent me specific instructions. Thanks for your response.

I just got a panel from Technografic. I haven’t installed it yet but looks great and a perfect match.

There are small Phillips screws on the underside that are covered by silicone. Puncture the silicone with the screwdriver and turn the screws. Pieces should then be easy to separate.
