Hello,
Is it possible / practical to re conditional the engine pulley's ? A mechanic said all mine needs to be replaced as they are tearing the belt.
Photo enclosed for your viewing pleasure.
^^ THIS
I would definitely loosen the slack, pull the belt and spin each pulley by hand and you'll be able to tell if one or more is bad.
That said, I did a complete resto of the pulleys on my 5.0s
It's much easier if you take them off first, although the P/S and Alternator ones can be done in place
For the sea pumps, I replaced with hardin pumps that came with powder coated pulleys. But for the water pumps and crank pulleys, brackets etc I sanded off the rust, and painted with hi-temp POR-15 and they came out great. I replaced the plastic ones with new because the bearings were gone anyways.
Lousy pics but here is the before and after

After with the belt in the wrong place

The "Upload a File" button below. I copy them to my phone, or my laptops drive, then upload from there.Off topic, but what service do you utilize to post pics?

'Course that was about 15 years ago when a twenty carried a little more weight... well, "slightly" more, anyways!wow $20? not bad!
You need to be a paid member to upload photos using that method. What I do, is ....
I have them saved to my computer and network drive. I'll open one up in a web browser, use a screen-shot app or plug-in, copy that to the clipboard and paste it right into the message rather than uploading

Phil your method will only allow you to see them since they are stored on your computer. If others can see them then that means your hard drive is visible to the internet. That would not be good to say the least.
Thanks for the reply.^^ THIS

If they're tearing because they're not aligned, that's a different fix. But if it's because they're rusty and rough... drop them off at a powder coater and ask them to do it when they're doing another set of black things as you might get a break on the cost. They'll sandblast and powder coat... come back looking like new.
I did this on my boat and the guy threw mine in after hours... $20.
I'm even lazier than that. I just drag and drop to where I'm typing.I'm a paid member here, all that opening up copying and pasting and such sounds like a pain to me, too many clicks. Click upload file, select the file, it loads, click full image, put your cursor where you want the image to be, you're done.
